Formed in Monterey, California, BOG IRON has been launching their own brand of pure Celtic rock fury since early 2008. By taking the essence of the traditional Irish song, stripping it down to its purest form, and remolding it into an aggressive gem of Hard Rock energy, BOG IRON transports the Irish folk sound into the present—and beyond!
BOG IRON puts on a fierce live show, complete with wild sing-along choruses, anthemic rebel songs, and epic originals. As the waves of rock-n-roll overwhelm you, listen for the subtle and not-so-subtle hints of … Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Metallica, Guns N Roses. BOG IRON is backed by the thunderous rhythm section of Keith Wieland (drums) and Peter Sheehan (bass) and fronted by Patrick Golden’s searing guitar work and John Michael’s soaring vocal acrobatics.
The strength of BOG IRON lies in the one set show (45 mins to an hour and a half) but the band can also fill a rock steady three to four set night (three hours). In addition to being the headliner, BOG IRON has shared the stage with bands such as the Galway Hooker Band, Whiskey Galore, Seneca, Forrest Day, Touch’d Too Much, Rumble Steelskin, the Black Eyed Dempseys, Whiskey and Stitches, the Angry Brians, the Pikeys, the Wicked Tinkers, Celtica, Prima Nocta, and more!
In 2018, Bog Iron celebrates its 10th anniversary with a series of shows and new releases including: LIVE IRON (a ten-year retrospective of live tracks) and ECHOES FROM THE CLIFFS OF MOHER (a re-master/re-release of their original debut album, with eight previously unreleased tracks!).
